FAN Just as the processor, the Fan just works. But, it works at full speed all the time which is annoying and drains the battery. The solution is to fix the DSDT of the buggy BIOS. I found a guide here

http://acpi.sourceforge.net/ which should save you some work. To use this DSDT, you have to use a patched kernel. I use the "ACPI DSDT in initrd" patch available at
http://gaugusch.at/kernel.shtml When this patch and DSDT are in place, you can enable thermal fan throttling with
echo "3" > /proc/acpi/fan/FAN/state
